Flavia says “Raised on wild stories and fairy tales, I have a deep appreciation of the arts. The nights of my childhood spent reading with my mother resulted in a love for creative writing as a form of expression and escapism. It was my degree in English Literature that encouraged me to develop a more refined style and prepared me for writing professionally.
I love the combination of research and writing that is involved with content production – a combination which allows me to utilise both my academic and creative sides. Writing for a digital platform can be challenging though – content needs to be interesting, informative, and there is no room for error when your audience can so easily fact check your work. It’s a challenge I continually strive to meet, and I endeavour to bring the same attention to detail to each new client and project that I work on. Despite its challenges, the main perk is that the research involved with content writing feeds my curiosity – I am always learning something new”
Lily says “Content writing for me is an opportunity to research topics that I would not have necessarily researched otherwise. One of my greatest loves is to learn. Through content writing, I am able to learn about a wide variety of topics, helping me to be a more well-rounded individual and engage with topics that I otherwise may not have known about.
In this day and age, I believe that it is wise to have multiple streams of income, and being a content writer allows me the freedom to work according to my own schedule and thus to work in other areas too. I am fortunate in that my other streams of income require me to travel, and being a content writer means that I can travel with my work. Thus, it is for these reasons that I enjoy being a content writer”
Jaime has been mildly obsessed with words since they first began pouring out of her mouth (sometimes a little unwisely) as an infant. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and psychology from the University of Cape Town in 2015, and will graduate with her Honours degree in English studies at the end of 2016. Jaime writes all the time, whether its content, essays, her blog posts (https://unironicironist.wordpress.com/), or captions for her friends’ Instagram photos. She hopes to become a semi-celebrated author, find a home in the editing and publishing world, and to never satisfy her insatiable craving for wit, irony and good grammar.
